European Green Paper on Proposals for Cutting Plastic Waste

By European Commission

- Published on April 1, 2013 by European Commission

The European Commission has unveiled a Green Paper which proposes a strategy to improve waste management and, specifically, cutting plastic waste. The paper portrays the continued efforts of the European Commission to generate and initiate a European wide debate on sustainability and the effects that plastic has on our environment.

The paper, which is open for public consultation, contains various policies which aim to help the major challenges of waste management and work toward a 'zero waste' goal. The European Commissioner for the environment wants Europe to head towards this goal promptly and proposes doing so through a mixture of harder and softer measures.
