Delhi’s Ban on Plastic Bags Fraught with Challenges

The ban in Delhi on the manufacture, sale and use of plastic bags was initiated in November; however it appears that there may still be challenges to overcome. The journalist of this article found this out when he was easily sold 100 plastic bags...


Although the punishments are tough like fines or being arrested it is clear that the demand for business and the demand for plastic undercuts the ban. Health experts and environmentalists are raising the alarm but shopkeepers and manufacturers have also raised the alarm on their business rights.
