PLASTIC DISCLOSURE PROJECT

In the quest for creating circular economies, the PDP enables manufacturers, the service sector, and municipalities to manage and reduce their plastic waste by measuring and understanding their plastic footprint

WHO IS OUR SURVEY

FOR?

Manufacturers

Which produce or incorporate plastic items in their products or packaging

Services

Which generate waste via the use of plastic materials and products in their operations (e.g. hotels, hospitals, airports, restaurants, etc)

Municipalities

Governmental organizations which provide basic social services to the communities they serve, such as waste pickup, recycling and disposal

You can't manage what you don't measure

SURVEY

01

MEASURE & ASSESS

Understand the baseline of your current use, recovery, recycling and use of recycled content, so your organization is better equipped to make important and significant gains on plastic pollution reduction, resource recovery and reuse of materials.  This is important to know what you can "circulate," and how, and even will give you the baseline you need for plastic offsetting or the use of plastic credits.

ENGAGE STAKEHOLDERS

Use your results to gain the knowledge and capacity on how best to engage your customers, employees, partners, Board of Directors, investors, procurement teams, designers and marketing departments, to name a few.

02

03

GO CIRCULAR

It is difficult to enter the circular economy and efficiently re-use and recover materials if a baseline analysis is not completed beforehand, giving you the management knowledge of what resources you have available for “circulation.”

About

ABOUT

WE ARE

The Plastic Disclosure Project (PDP) was created by Ocean Recovery Alliance, and was the first plastic footprinting methodogy in the world, announced in 2010 at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI).  The PDP has been endorsed by both United Nations Environment (UNEP) and the World Bank, and is a strong tool for creating management focus and metrics on plastic waste and the opportunities that come with creating circular economies for products and packaging.

As UNEP leads the way towards the creation of a Global Plastic Agreement by the end of 2024, the PDP is well positioned to help management, employees, customers and other stakeholders to understand how changes in their use of materials, recycled content or the recovery of plastic in its second-life, can make significant impacts in reducing operational waste impacts.

PDP's Management Team is based in Hong Kong and San Francisco.  They bring a wide variety of experience spanning finance, business, environment and consulting. Their responsibility is to launch and lead the project under the oversight of the Steering Committee.

“When we developed our single use plastic strategy, we had to make sense of our current situation. The questions in the PDP guided us into understanding our impacts and how we could address them. We definitely recommend using PDP as a tool in developing any plastic strategy so one can identify and focus on the areas where they can make the most impact”
