Ecovative uses agricultural waste and mushroom technology to literally grow materials that can replace environmentally damaging plastic foams. Renewable, agricultural byproducts are bonded together by fungal mycellium in a low energy production process. The resulting eco-friendly materials perform similarly to petroleum-based plastic foams. Ecovative's "EcoCradle Mushroom Packaging" is marine degradable and home compostable. "EcoCradle" is even being used by NOAA to protect scientific buoys as they are being deployed around the globe. Ecovative is committed to producing materials that make sense, and fit within the biological systems and timescales of Earth's ecosystems.
